”If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” (Cicero)
Tables and chairs are essential for your outdoor furniture set. Dinner with friends, chatting with them, enjoying warm summer air and sun in a relaxing atmosphere. Purchasing chairs for your garden is an important step in outfitting your outdoor dining area. They must match the table and the rest of the outdoor furniture you have. They have to be comfortable, safe and durable as well as aesthetically pleasant. A few suggestions will help you choose the chair you need.
Comfort, above all! Garden chairs allow you to spend pleasant hours outdoors, but sitting on an uncomfortable chair will be a waste of money! Choose an ergonomic chair, with an ergonomic seat and a flexible seatback, with legs that are stable on uneven surfaces like the lawn. Upholstered garden chairs, for example, avoid unwanted pressure on your body especially in the lumbar zone thanks to the cushions on the seat and on the seatback. Choose removable cover, washable cushions to make them last longer. Garden chairs with armrests are very comfortable because they let you rest your arms while sitting but for total comfort you need the continuous relax of a rocking garden chair it’ll be the best place where to read a book or sip a cool beverage on your terrace. If you have space problems or you need the chairs only in summer, you should choose stackable garden chairs or some foldable garden chairs that can be stored away in small storage areas when not needed.

Which materials should you choose? The market offers a wide range of materials: wood, metal (aluminium or stainless steel) and plastic. Wooden garden chairs are the most common ones because of their resistance and durability. If adequately treated, wooden outdoor furniture can last forever. We recommend choosing a non-varnished wooden garden chair because it will loose its hue if exposed to sunrays. Metal garden chairs are durable and sturdy and can come in different colors because the kind of paint used doesn’t change when exposed to UV rays. However, they will have to be properly maintained to avoid paint flaking away with consequent rust. And then there are plastic garden chairs: the old ones were cheap and fragile because of low quality plastic. The new ones are highly resistant and more expensive due to a modern thermoplastic polymer. Polycarbonate, polyethilene and polamide are molded to create the most diverse shapes and colors. The advantage of the new plastic materials is that they come in whatever color and they can match whichever furniture.

The style of the garden chairs will have to follow the one of the rest of the garden furniture and match the indoor furniture. So choose classic style garden chairs if your house furniture is traditional: wrought iron, inlay wood and grid like seats and intertwined rattan and wicker will enrich your patio, your terrace or your winter garden perfectly. Complete the set with an inlay marble or natural stone top garden table. If you prefer modern furniture, combine contemporary style garden chairs in colored technical plastic with a minimalistic style table or choose a dark synthetic rattan with white cushions.

The most obvious suggestion we can give you: test the chairs before you buy them. If you feel comfortable even your guests will probably feel the same. ... More ... less
